Park Avenue kitchen - before

Park Avenue kitchen - after

The original kitchen had no dishwasher, so we added one. Energy efficiency and water conservation were important factors in the appliance selection.

In order to maximize storage capacity and accommodate large platters, the upper cabinets throughout the kitchen are somewhat deeper than usual (13.5" instead of 12"). Because the lower cabinets in this area are 30" deep and the sink is mounted toward the front, we were able to make the upper cabinets 18" deep while maintaining comfortable access to the sink and the counter. The cabinets go all the way to the ceiling in order to maximize storage.

There’s a slot behind the dishwasher that holds a step stool to make access to the top areas of the cabinets easier.
