Central Park West solarium - after

Although the solarium has windows on two sides, the original colors used for paint, furniture and floor covering prevented it from looking sunny. The room was also unpleasantly narrow.

Replacing the doorway between the living room and the solarium with a large archway allowed the living room to benefit from the windows in the solarium. The solarium was made more attractive and comfortable by widening it by 22”. The original radiator and cover, which projected into the room by about 14” were replaced by a small baseboard heater that virtually disappears, and an additional 8” were "borrowed" from the adjoining bedroom when that wall was replaced.

The photographs above have different vantage points. One faces into the solarium from the living room and the other faces into the living room from the solarium.
