The president felt that his office, which was initially designed by someone else, was not as warm and welcoming as he would like it to be, and the fabric on the sofa and chairs was not holding up. The donation of a large collection of books presented an opportunity to modify the original design. We designed bookcases to house the collection as well as other books and articles of significance and rearranged the furniture to create a cozy seating area near the larger bookcase. We added a coffee table in this area, designed a sofa that combines the sleekness of office design with the comfort of residential seating and recovered the existing chairs. We also installed art borrowed from the university's museum in the president's private office and throughout the floor.
